Sebastian Vettel won the Korean GP last weekend to add to his win total and help clinch the Constructor’s Championship. Although the driver’s championship gets the most attention from media and fans, it is the constructor’s title that the FIA pays out a handsome cash reward to the winner.
Red Bull had a dominant season including Vettel’s 10 wins and a lockout of the pole position in every race except Korea. By the way, the season is not over yet! Vettel has a shot at most poles and wins in 1 single season. Red Bull has already scored more points than any other constructor in any season in F1′s history!
As you know, we love our motocross racing and dirt bike gear. However, F1 is the most prestigious series in the world. That, we must recognize.
Saturday night in Las Vegas Nevada Ryan Villopoto completed a perfect season. RV won the Monster Energy Cup and a 1 million dollar bonus for winning all 3 motos. RV added the Monster Energy Cup to his already impressive 2011 which includes the Supercross Championship, Motocross Championship, and the Motocross of Nations Championship.
Villopoto dominated the night with his only competition being Ryan Dungey on his new KTM bike and Red Bull KTM motocross gear. Dungey took second overall in his first ride on the KTM.
Villopoto will enjoy his short off season with his family, 1 million dollars, and some of the coolest trophies around. Get ready for 2012 as the season is only 10 weeks away. Can RV repeat the dominance of 2011?
After a weekend of action all over Las Vegas that included Ryan Villopoto winning a million dollar bonus, silence fell over the city Sunday afternoon.
After all the dirt bike gear was put away the IRL series ran it’s final event of the year. On lap 12 a 15 car crash took the life of Indy 500 Champion Dan Wheldon. Wheldon started the event from last place with the chance to win 5 million dollars if he could pass the field and win.
A spinning car caused a chain reaction crash that sent Wheldon’s car into the catch fence. His injuries were called “unsurvivable,” by IRL Chief Brian Barnhart. Barnhart and the drivers choose to end the event after a 90 minute red flag session where fans and drivers waited to hear news on Wheldon’s injuries. As the public waited, it seemed that the only news that was coming was bad. Before the announcement was made on live TV the apperance and attitude of the drivers told the story.
Dan Wheldon was 33. He leaves behind a wife and 2 small children. Our prayers go out to Wheldon’s family and hope that their faith will guide them through this hard time. Although we on earth do not understand why a talented young man like Wheldon should be taken from the earth, we must understand that God will guide his family to all the answers in due time.
The place to be this weekend for all motorsports fans is Las Vegas! The Monster Energy Cup is on Saturday evening and promises to be a very unique event. The IRL will wrap up it’s season in Vegas on Sunday. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is also on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s list of events.
Of course we want to know all about Ryan Dungey and his new KTM motocross gear. How will the rider do on the KTM against the unstoppable Ryan Villopoto. Can any of the riders win all 3 motos and take home the 1 million dollar bonus? RV has got the best shot.
Lucky for us all of this weekend’s Vegas action will be on Speed Channel except for the IRL event.
The Dew Tour is also in Vegas. I can’t believe we are staying home!
