Robby Gordon will start his Speed Energy Chevrolet in this year’s SCORE Tecate Baja 1000. Speed Energy is a new energy drink that was created by Robby Gordon. Although the drink is not available across the country, you can order the drink at the Speed Energy website. Gordon is advertising his new business endeavor on his Trophy Truck and NASCAR Sprint Cup car.
Robby Gordon is a 3 time Baja 1000 winner and the time is hoping for another win this year. Gordon will also be at the NASCAR finally at Homestead Speedway in Florida. Kevin Conway will practice and qualify the car November 19 and 20. Robby Gordon will take over on race day November 21. Gordon’s racing week will start November 16th with Baja pre-runs, race the 1000 on November 18th to the 19th, and wrap things up by exchanging his off road helmet for his NASCAR lid. Is this guy an animal or what? I guess if he can run 16 days in the Dakar he can do anything behind the wheel. He’s definately living my dream. Go Robby!
The 2010 edition of the SCORE Tecate Baja 1000 began November 16 and will continue through November 20. Teams and drivers have already spent time pre-running the course this week. This years race includes Trophy Truck Racers Rob MacCachren, Jesse James, B.J Baldwin, and past champion Robby Gordon.
The off road competition is 1061 miles beginning in Ensenada Mexico and ending in La Paza. The cars and trucks will leave the start line beginning November 18 in 30 second intervals. The total time spent on course is how the winner is determined. The top finishing cars and trucks will complete the course in 19 to 20 hours. Some will rotate drivers at different points in the course. Other will run the entire course in one sitting.
UTV, quads, and motorcycle riders will also compete in the event. These riders must be in top physical condition to last the 1061 miles through the desert heat. Equipment will take a beating during the event. Only the best motocross boots, and motocross gear can survive. Good luck to all racers. In case you have not heard by now, the biggest action sports star in the world is headed to NASCAR! Travis Pastrana made an official announcement November 11th that he would join Micheal Waltrip Racing in a joint effort in the Nationwide Series. It has been rumored that Pastranahas already entered many NASCAR events on a local level under and assumed name. Pastrana may have more stock car experience than the general public originally thought.
Pastrana will continue his commitments to Rally America, Nitro Circus, and X Games competition. Pastrana is also slated to run in the World Rally Championship in select events. Pastrana will not put away the dirt bike gear forever, but he will be busier than ever. 7 Nationwide races are on Pastrana’s schedule in 2011 and 20 races in 2012. Hear all the latest news on Pastrana’s second motorsports cross over journey here on offroadaccessoryreview.com and probikehelmets.com.
Travis Pastrana is without a doubt one of the most popular public figures in the world. The extreme sports icon Travis Pastrana is humble, but talented beyond our imagination. With an athlete as multi-talented as he is why change from the Pastrana normal?
Opportunity. The opportunity of NASCAR. Travis does have some preliminary plans to run a few races in 2011 for Michael Waltrip Racing’s Nationwide Series Team. Travis has not committed to a full season schedule, nor has he committed to a set number of races. Travis already has a busy schedule with the Nitro Circus, Rally America, Super Rally, and of course the X Games once a year. Travis will likely still have Red Bull support in NASCAR.
How true is the rumor? Pastrana could not deny the Waltrip Racing story when asked by Kenny Sargent in a Speed Freaks interview. Another Cross over story in the making. Read more about Travis Pastrana, and Rickey Carmichael and why motocross Champions and Champions in other forms of motorsports could some day dominate NASCAR’s top divisions.
The 2010 Motocross and Supercross Championships were decided early in the season. Dungey had the title in his motocross gloves before the last race even began. However, in the Formula One World Championship fight is going down to the wire just like the NASCAR battle. 4 drivers have a mathematical chance to win the Championship. However, only 2 have legitimate chances.
Current points leader Fernando Alonso can lock up the title by finishing ahead of Mark Webber at the last race in Abu Dhabi. Mark Webber, the other legitimate contender must beat Alonso by at least 2 positions.
This weekend’s race in Brasil saw Red Bull clinch the constructor’s title with a 1st and 2nd place finish. Alonso was a distant 3rd. Red Bull had the dominant car all season long and is deserving of the constructor’s title. However, they need a 1-2 finish again next week to clinch the driver’s Championship also. But this time Webber needs to win using Vettel as the buffer between he and Alonso.
Tune in to the final race of the season to see if Webber will step up to the plate and win his first World Championship. My money is on Webber!
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is going to be settled in the final 2 races of the season. Fans have often complained that Jimmie Johnson has all but wrapped up the title too early in the Chase. Making the last few races of the season anti-climactic.
This year, fans got what they wanted. With 2 races to go Jimmie Johnson is not leading the points at all. Kevin Harvick, Johnson, and Denny Hamlin are within 59 points of each other. The Championship may be decided at Homestead, the final race of the season.
Phoenix will be an important race for Harvick. Phoenix is one of Harvick’s stronger tracks and needs to win to keep himself in the hunt.
Johnson, who began his motorsports path in motocross apparel, needs to finish a few spots in front of Hamlin to make this the tightest points race since Kurt Busch won his Championship in 2004.
The Texas race was exciting through out. You can expect much of the same in the final 2 events as tempers and pressure to perform begin to rise!
As everyone knows by now Robby Gordon was at the Amp Energy 500 in Talladega, Alabama this weekend. Gordon scored an 18th place finish. Why the late switch? Robby Gordon’s new energy drink Speed Energy. Gordon and his Sprint Cup Team were out promoting the new drink that will try and rival past sponsors Red Bull and Monster. Robby Gordon has already been close to the marketing end of this type of product with 2 of his previous sponsors.
The new drink is being sold online right now. Robby Gordon is pushing hard with his marketing to keep his NASCAR Team on the track. Gordon has a high ranking website called Planet Robby, an Online Reality Show Speed Factory TV, and the new Energy Drink. Does this guy have enough going on? All this before he puts on the Off Road Helmet to participate in the Baja 1000 and Dakar Rally all coming up in the next 90 days. Wow, he’s living out my dreams. Could it get any better?
A number of ex-motocross racers have tried their hand at four wheel racing over the last 5 years. Travis
Pastrana, Ricky Carmichael, and even Jeremy McGrath have had high to moderate success crossing over. Another rider began his transition in summer of 2010.
Brian Deegan, leader of the Metal Mulisha and freestyle motocross pioneer is making a calculated move to NASCAR. Deegan is already comfortable on four wheels by participating in off road truck racing and rally car racing. Deegan took the Silver Metal in X Games 2010 in both Rally and Super Rally. Only Tanner Foust could beat Deegan at X Games Rally this past summer.
Why leave the dirt bike gear and off road racing behind for NASCAR? Opportunity. Just like Carmichael and Pastrana, Deegan has been given an opportunity to bring his success to NASCAR.
NTS Motorsports in Southern California has fielded an entry for Deegan in Super Late Model races at Irwindale’s Toyota Speedway. Deegan has committed to a few local races at Irwindale and then the Camping World West Series for 2011. NTS Motorsports plans to run through NASCAR’s ranks just like Jimmie Johnson and Herzog Motorsports. Johnson and Herzog Motorsports started together in Stadium truck racing and moved to the old ASA Series, then to what is now known as the Nationwide Series. Johnson was then signed by Hendrick Motorsports for his Sprint Cup career.
Why is this a recipe for success? Because of the formula being used. Johnson had long time backing from Chevrolet and Herzog Motorsports. Carmichael has long term backing from Oakley, Monster, and other major sponsors. Deegan has a plan for long term backing from NTS, Rockstar, and of course the Metal Mulisha. Young NASCAR drivers with “potential,” cannot match what Deegan has. Financial backing, and a huge fan following. Deegan will be allowed time to learn the big leagues of racing. Something most young up and coming NASCAR only drivers do not have. Young rookies have to perform quickly and get top finishes to keep their corporate sponsors. Deegan’s sponsors will follow him even if he choose to race lawn mowers. If current economic conditions continue, NASCAR may become 50% racers from other motorsports that have fan followings and big sponsors. Good for Deegan, Carmichael, and Pastrana. Good for NASCAR, bad for young, struggling NASCAR drivers.

As we like to do on occasion, lets put down the motocross gloves. Put down the wrenches, and stop reading motorsports blogs for just a minute. We spend a great deal of time talking about dirt bike gear, and the best racers in the world. So now lets spend a little time one of the most beautiful women in the world.
Audrina Patridge looks good in everything she puts on. Patridge has a style and elegance that is matched by few famous women. Now that her duties with “The Hills,” is nearly complete, and her run on Dancing with the Stars is over, she begins a show that is all about her. I cant wait. Who is your favorite woman of beauty and style?
Children’s motocross boots can be a rough topic. They are just as expensive as adult boots but your child will grow out of them quick.
Youth motocross boots can be handed down or sold. Unlike a kids motocross helmet which you want to buy new no matter what. Best way to plan for your child’s growing pains is to buy a boot that has a high availability of replacement parts. Buckles, soles, and other parts that tend to wear out before the life of the boot is over can be purchased separately. Buying a motocross boot with replacement parts keeps the boot usable over many years. Don’t select a cheap boot in fear of growth, buy good boot and pass it down from child to child. It’ll save you a few buck while your at it.
