The Motorsports models of the world have been out in force all year. Whether its the Formula 1 grid girls, Rockstar Girls at Motocross, or the super hot NOS energy drink girls at Formula Drift events, they always make the weekend a little better.

Here’s a shout out to all the hot girls holding umbrellas and grid signs this year. Hope to see more of them in 2012. Dirt Bike Gear isn’t the only thing we can talk about!

Motocross of Nations 2011

Team USA won again at the motocross of Nations this past weekend. The team comprised of Ryan Dungey, Ryan Villopoto, and Blake Baggett waited until the final moto to take the win. This is the 7th time in a row that Team USA has won the event. Strong team showings were turned in by Team France and Team Australia. Team Farance earned second place with team members, Christophe Pourcel, Marvin Musquin, and Gautier Paulin. Australia took third with top riders Chad Reed, and Bret Metcalfe.

Team USA lead by Roger DeCoster took their dirt bike gear to the front once again. Once again, it wasn’t easy. Chad Reed won moto 1, with Ken Roczen second. Moto 2 saw Gautier Paulin win with Jeffrey Herlings of the Netherlands in second and Ryan Villopoto third. It wasn’t until moto 3 that Villopoto won and Dungey took second clinching the team overall win.

The event was very competitive, and the track very challenging. Moto 1 saw wet weather which was perfect for Ken Roczen and Chad Reed. Can the US make it 8 in a row in 2012.

Ryan Villopoto

After a serious injury in 2010, Ryan Villopoto comes back to take 2 championships this year on his Kawasaki. RV did not win the final event in Pala, but he didn’t have to.

Villopoto wraps up the season with a 1/3 at Pala which was enough to stay ahead of Ryan Dungey in the Championship. Villopoto will proudly wear the #1 plate when Supercross opens in 2012. For now, RV can set down his motocross helmet and relax, for a little while. Las Vegas money race and Motocross of Nations is up next!

Vettel Again!

Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel won the F1 GP at Monza in dominant fashion. Vettel even stopped for tires once and did not lose the lead! Vettel has a 112 point lead over Fernando Alonso with 6 Grand Prix to go. Winning each F1 race earns a driver 25 points so Vettel could stay home from 4 GPs and still have the points lead!

The Red Bull/Vettel dominance has been nothing short of amazing. Next race in 2 weeks in Singapore.

Although the Motocross is about the wrap up for 2011, we will still be enjoying motocross action in our writers loft at Joeyspeed Enterprises. We have dirt bike toys of all our favorite riders and yes we play during the off season.

Who would win if Carmichael, McGrath, Stewart, Reed, Hart, and Pastrana all raced against each other during the peak of their careers? With our collection of dirt bike toys, were going to find out!

We should spend more time writing!

The Milestones are Falling

posted by The Future

NASCAR milestones have fallen twice this year already. Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon have put their stamp on NASCAR history forever.

Kyle Busch recently scored his 50th win in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Busch now has the most wins of all drivers to compete in NASCAR’s second highest level of competition. Busch bumped Mark Martin from the top spot in 2011 passing the old record of 49 wins.

Jeff Gordon won his 85th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Tuesday. The win placed him in sole possition of 3rd place on the all time win list. Gordon only trails Richard Petty (200 wins) and David Pearson (105 wins) for the title of most wins in a career.

Kyle Busch is still in the prime time of his career and will likely add more wins to his Nationwide total. Still in his mid twenties, Kyle could have twenty more years of wins to add to the total.

Jeff Gordon is slowly nearing the end of his career. The forty year old driver has an outside chance of catching Pearson’s 105 wins in the next 10-15 years of his career.

Although we are dedicated to off road motorsports and dirt bike gear we still like to pay our respects to the greats of motorsports as a whole. Who will be the next driver to cross a milestone in NASCAR? Jimmie Johnson has 5 Championships, can he tie Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty at 7 before the end of his career?

2011 and Two Two Motorsports

Chad Reed and his Two Two Motorsports team had a better season then most critics expected in 2011. Reed started his own team for 2011 whenhe was without a ride for 2011. The team battled for both the Supercross and Motocross Championships taking event wins in both. The Australian born rider may have exceeded his own expectations but was still left disappointed by not taking either championship.

No worries. In 2012 the 22 dirt bike gear will be back and stronger than before. With a year of experience the Honda rider can come back and have a better shot at the title. We call 2011 a success for Reed even if he won’t be wearing the number 1 plate.

Tuesday?

September 6, 2011

The NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers were not able to run their 25th event of the season at Atlanta this weekend. Rain delayed the start of the event and eventually was moved to Tuesday. Why Tuesday? Why not Monday? You know the day that the whole country has off?

Well, the weather was not expected to improve on Monday either. Some say Tuesday’s forecast is only a little better. Many of the fans could not wait out the rain. A large percentage of the fans headed home.

The drivers and teams will also have added stress as they are racing in Richmond, Virginia on Saturday night. Only 4 days after they leave Atlanta.

We feel bad for the fans who are going to miss the race but paid for admission. The teams will deal with the hardship just as any other business would deal with unexpected circumstances. If it was a motocross race, it would have happened as scheduled. Only down fall would be the muddy dirt bike gear. No lost admission cost for fans.

Ambrose has a Real Shot at Making the Chase

posted by joeyspeed

Marcos Ambrose could be the fairytale story of the year if he makes the 2011 Chase for the Sprint Cup. Ambrose has a good chance of making NASCAR’s playoffs by winning at Watkins Glen and Brad Keselowski being the hottest driver on the series in the month of August.

Keselowski now sits in 11th in the points. If Brad continues his hot streak he could easily end up in the top ten instead of being a wild card. With Brad Keselowski in the top 10, he would then bump either the win-less Tony Stewart or Dale Jr out. In this scenario Denny Hamlin would be the first wild card into The Chase. The second wild card spot would be left for Paul Menard, David Regan, and Marcos Ambrose to fight for.

Right now Paul Menard is in 20th, Regan in 21th, and Ambrose is 22nd. If Ambrose gains 5 points on Menard and Regan, Ambrose becomes the wild card. All of this depends on Keselowski getting into the top 10.

A lot of “ifs,” but not too far off of possible. If nothing else NASCAR has made their Championship more exciting by designing important battles to go down to the wire for 1st place in points, 10th place, most wins, and even top 20 and 35 points positions. We will always love motocross gloves flying through the air but this NASCAR stuff sure is interesting.

Metcalfe wins at Southwick

Aussie rider Brett Metcalfe took his very first overall win this past weekend at Southwick. Metcalfe beat RV, Dungey, and the struggling Chad Reed in some very wet conditions. Lots of rain changed the outlook on the event and left it wide open for riders like Metcalfe.

Every rider’s dirt bike gear was covered in mud and Metcalfe came out on top without winning either Moto. RV extended his point lead over Dungey by 1 point. Chad Reed is now 65 points out of first place with only 2 events to go. Better luck next year for Two Two Motorsports.
