Sebastian Vettel won the Korean GP last weekend to add to his win total and help clinch the Constructor’s Championship. Although the driver’s championship gets the most attention from media and fans, it is the constructor’s title that the FIA pays out a handsome cash reward to the winner.
Red Bull had a dominant season including Vettel’s 10 wins and a lockout of the pole position in every race except Korea. By the way, the season is not over yet! Vettel has a shot at most poles and wins in 1 single season. Red Bull has already scored more points than any other constructor in any season in F1′s history!
As you know, we love our motocross racing and dirt bike gear. However, F1 is the most prestigious series in the world. That, we must recognize.
Saturday night in Las Vegas Nevada Ryan Villopoto completed a perfect season. RV won the Monster Energy Cup and a 1 million dollar bonus for winning all 3 motos. RV added the Monster Energy Cup to his already impressive 2011 which includes the Supercross Championship, Motocross Championship, and the Motocross of Nations Championship.
Villopoto dominated the night with his only competition being Ryan Dungey on his new KTM bike and Red Bull KTM motocross gear. Dungey took second overall in his first ride on the KTM.
Villopoto will enjoy his short off season with his family, 1 million dollars, and some of the coolest trophies around. Get ready for 2012 as the season is only 10 weeks away. Can RV repeat the dominance of 2011?
Just as Ryan Villopoto put down his motocross jersey after walkingaway with the AMA Motocross title with relative ease, the longest season in motorsports gets real exciting. Crossover driver Tony Stewart took the win in the opening round of the Sprint Cup Chase. The win for the former USAC Triple Champion and IRL Champion but him in the middle of the championship battle.
Stewart jumped from 10th to 2nd in the Chase points. The next race on the Chase schedule is at a track the Stewart has already been successful at this season. Stewart and teammate Ryan Newman finished 1,2 earlier this year. Is Stewart now a favorite to take his 3rd Sprint Cup Championship?
The Motorsports models of the world have been out in force all year. Whether its the Formula 1 grid girls, Rockstar Girls at Motocross, or the super hot NOS energy drink girls at Formula Drift events, they always make the weekend a little better.
Here’s a shout out to all the hot girls holding umbrellas and grid signs this year. Hope to see more of them in 2012. Dirt Bike Gear isn’t the only thing we can talk about!
Although the Motocross is about the wrap up for 2011, we will still be enjoying motocross action in our writers loft at Joeyspeed Enterprises. We have dirt bike toys of all our favorite riders and yes we play during the off season.
Who would win if Carmichael, McGrath, Stewart, Reed, Hart, and Pastrana all raced against each other during the peak of their careers? With our collection of dirt bike toys, were going to find out!
Chad Reed and his Two Two Motorsports team had a better season then most critics expected in 2011. Reed started his own team for 2011 whenhe was without a ride for 2011. The team battled for both the Supercross and Motocross Championships taking event wins in both. The Australian born rider may have exceeded his own expectations but was still left disappointed by not taking either championship.
No worries. In 2012 the 22 dirt bike gear will be back and stronger than before. With a year of experience the Honda rider can come back and have a better shot at the title. We call 2011 a success for Reed even if he won’t be wearing the number 1 plate.
Aussie rider Brett Metcalfe took his very first overall win this past weekend at Southwick. Metcalfe beat RV, Dungey, and the struggling Chad Reed in some very wet conditions. Lots of rain changed the outlook on the event and left it wide open for riders like Metcalfe.
Every rider’s dirt bike gear was covered in mud and Metcalfe came out on top without winning either Moto. RV extended his point lead over Dungey by 1 point. Chad Reed is now 65 points out of first place with only 2 events to go. Better luck next year for Two Two Motorsports.
It was Donny Schatz taking the win in the 51st Knoxville Nationals Saturday night in Iowa. Schatz, is a multiple time winner of the event as well as a past World of Outlaws Champion. Schatz drives for NASCAR driver Tony Stewart in sprint car racing’s premiere division.
The Tony Stewart Racing Team had a difficult start to their week by blowing a motor on their preliminary race on Wednesday. Donny Schatz fought through the strong field of cars starting in the 13th position. Schatz had taken over the lead well before the mid-point of the race and never looked back.
Although sprint cars do race on the dirt, its not exactly off road racing. But we love it anyway. No motocross jerseys at the Knoxville Nationals but we like bring the best racing in the world to you computer anyway!
The X Games begin today! We could hardly stand the wait considering all the story lines this year. Here are a few stories we will be following over the next 4 days.
Carey Hart-Hart and his Hart Huntington team of riders will participate in many events. Carey Hart himself will race in the freestyle/motocross event known as Speed and Style. Supercross star Chris Blose will try his hand at Step Up. Jeremy Stenberg will join Hart in Speed and Style. Stenberg will also compete in Best Whip, and Freestyle. Look for Hart and Huntington to have a strong showing in the Moto X category.
Travis Pastrana-Travis Pastrana will have his hands full when he competes in 1 or more events everyday from Thursday thru Sunday. Pastrana will compete on his dirt bike, in a NASCAR Nationwide car, and in a Rally Car. In two different states that arent exactly near each other. Epic Pass for Pastrana would be to Medal in every event and finish in the top ten at the NASCAR race. Epic Fail would be to injure himself Thursday and miss the remaining events on his calendar. That would be terrible!
Robbie Maddison-Maddison will set aside his dirt bike gear to compete in Rally Car for the first time at X Games. How will he fair against the experts like Ken Block, and Marcus Gronholm? Can’t wait to see if he takes to 4 wheels as well as Pastrana, and Deegan.
Tanner Foust- Foust has been dominant in 2010 and 2011 in a rally car around the world. Foust won the gold in both Rally car and Super Rally last year. Can he repeat? So far I would put my money on Foust over all Rally racer for good reason.
Enjoy this year’s X Games. We only get to see this kind of star power once per year.
Yes, that special time of year is almost here. The time when every extreme sports athlete and fan converge on Los Angeles California for the Summer X Games. BMX, Skate, Moto X, and Rally Car events are on the menu. Of course are favorite events are Moto X and Rally Car.
We are all glad to see strong representation from top teams like Hart and Huntington, Metal Mulisha, Red Bull, and Nitro Circus. The dirt bike gear of the top riders will be out in force to dazzle the crowds at home and live in person. Look to us for updates all weekend long on our Facebook page, and here at OffRoadAccessoryReview.com.
Don’t forget that superstar Travis Pastrana will be making his first start in the NASCAR Nationwide division on Saturday July 30th in Indiana in between competing in Moto X events Thursday & Friday and then wrapping his busy weekend up Sunday in Rally Cross. We can hardly wait.
